Giving Thanks...........

Just wanted to take a moment and wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving! I hope you all are in fellowship with family and friends. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are five things that I am thankful and grateful for.......

* A higher power that is gracious enough to allow me to live.
* Health and happiness
* A wonderful favorite guy who tolerates my moodiness and goofiness
* An eclectic assortment of friends and family who support me no matter what
* A 9 to 5...especially in these days of economic chaos.
* (ok....I had to add just one more....actually the list could go on, but I will just add one....) Being alive to see this country's FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT!!

Heavy Confessions...........

Yes lovelies and lads...I have a confession to make. Let me start by stating that this is a very difficult thing to come to terms with...and I am gonna need some major support from ya'll.

I am addicted. I have a sickness that I cannot knock. As hard as I try my fingers just grab on and won't let go! I try to shift my focus but they just keep calling me. Dammit, why is it so hard to just give it up? I can log on looking for one simple thing and I look up and realize that I just spent three hours surfing the net...and still did not find what I was initially logged on for. See, I am an internet junkie! I read blogs, listen to music, research for business and pleasure...and sometimes school and work...but I get totally lost. I know...its sad. My favorite guy chastises me often...well chastise is a little harsh. He comments often about the time I meander away playing (so he puts it) at the computer. Do any of you suffer from this addiction? Is there some kind of help group...or what about self help? Can we help ourselves? Leave a comment and tell us what you think.

Now on to what I actually found "playing" on the computer *grin*. We are finally at the holiday season, and let's get real people....the economy sucks! You will not find me foraging the shopping malls trying to find the perfect gifts...nope, not this one. I plan to draw on my creativity and come up with special gift ideas unique to each dear person on my list. So.....here's to ideas........


For the music lover: I am going to create mixtapes from my vast ITunes library...especially for them..or I might find a mixtape here. Or....

YES WE CAN!!!!....YES WE WILL!!!!

I am truly proud of this country on today. The magnitude of this day in history has found me speechless and in total awe of the power of the people. Deep in my heart, I knew it was to be....BUT....history has shown that nothing is certain nor definite. As the polls closed, I found myself anxious and on edge because we have been here before....the trickery, the recounts, the recalls and more that mired elections of the past. But not today my people!!! America has spoken and we have stated loud and clear that WE CAN and WE WILL.....and WE DID! President Elect Barack Obama is our choice...we did not have any other choice! I am so happy and so proud! I look at the First Family and see the depth of what can be when we pull together support one another for the betterment of all....take a look, and tell me what you think.

Let Us Re-Introduce Ourselves.........

Wow, its been a long time.....too long in fact. You guys know how the summer months can be. So many things to do...so many sweltering days.

We took a small hiatus...nothing major...just a small intermission so to speak to regroup and focus on what's to come in the future. We have also been busy sourcing new designers, artists and natural hair and body care mixters and mixtresses. We have found some crown jewels that we are so excited to tell you about and introduce in the boutique!

So, as you know, our main mission is to provide you with unique funkiness from this nation's independent and underground designers. Well, we have decided to take it a tad bit further. Yes, this summer we have nurtured our conciousness and would like to offer more eco fashion, reconstructed fashion, vintage fashion and ...what else....oh sustainable fashion. LOL....did I use all of the appropriate buzz words? No seriously...these are causes that are near and dear to my heart. For all that know me, the face behind Muse, I am a loc wearing, natural product rockin girlie girl who loves the earth. So, its only natural to take Muse Annex in this direction. Okay, so we won't claim that everything in the boutique is 100% earth friendly, but we are gonna darn well try to leave a smaller footprint. Do you want to measure your footprint? Our friends at BBH Entertainment Group are hosting "INDUSTRY TUESDAYS" at TWELVE Restaurant & Lounge. Twelve, affectionately known as XII, is a hot new spot at 12th & H Streets, NE in the Atlas Theatre District. It's lavish ya'll. Come out on Tuesdays and vibe with producers, artists, songwriters, djs, musicians and others who have one commonality.....THE LOVE OF MUSIC.

You will definitely find our faces in the place. We just love hanging out in the C-I-T-Y...and we love MUSIC even more!

NYC Baby!

We spent this past Monday in New York. Oh how I love that place. Its the only place where you can find furniture, a good slice, a makeup show and a jewelry store all in the same block. No, we were not in the city for any of these things...okay, maybe a good slice. The pizza in DC leaves a lot to be desired. **giggles**

Our main purpose for visiting the Big Apple was to attend The Powder Group's Makeup Show. For those who are makeup addicts like myself..The Powder Group is a phenomenal group of ingenious makeup artists headed by the oh so wonderful Michael Devellis. They educate those in the business, they inspire current and future makeup artists and they, now for the second year in a row, produce a fab makeup show that brings all of the top brands and industry professionals under one roof. Okay, I know....I love me some makeup, but we are a clothing boutique, so I won't go on and on about The Makeup Show.

Our secondary purpose for being in the city, was to source some cool indie designers. Unfortunately, we spent so much time bumping around at The Makeup Show and copping some food, that we only got to talk to a few designers....not get to see their full line. I suppose we will have to plan another trip just for the special purpose of meets and greets with indie designers.

We did meet a very special person....a phenomenal woman indeed. Shortly before 8pm, we trekked over to Brooklyn to try and get a glimpse of some natural bath and body products. I had been in brief contact with the manager of Karen's Body Beautiful, so I wanted to pop in and do a full introduction and get a feel for what the products were about. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised! The storefront is gorgeous! They hand make and bottle every goodie right there on site. The store has a fully appointed kitchen that I would love to have in my home. I mean, it is decked out with granite counter tops, stainless appliances and an awesome range with a stainless and glass hood...just LOVELY! Anywhoo....after speaking to the woman behind the kitchen/counter about the products and oohing and aahing over the scents and textures, I finally asked the woman her name...It was Karen! How wonderful to meet the mastermind and mixtress behind this delicious line of handmade natural products! I was thrilled! We're still here..............

So things have been so so so hectic these days, BUT alas, we are checking in. Today I realized that you guys don't know much about us. Who is Muse and why am I checking out their blog?...Well, we will tell ya.



MUSE is a private shopping establishment that focuses on all things....well okay, most things natural and handmade. We started out as a little get-up that retailed tees, jewelry and other knick-knacks at street fairs and flea markets. As we hunted for more unique things to vend, we came across sooo many talented designers and artists that we loved loved loved....and we figured, how do we let everyone know that we have found these gems of designers and artists? We soon decided to launch a series of private showings....which actually did not work out so well. BUT, we were learning more and becoming more dedicated to giving our customers something unique and special.



Today, MUSE is a quaint little boutique type studio. Some of our favorite offerings are items that have been "reinvented" or "repurposed". We carry a unique selection from designers that focus on independent fashion design, eco-fashion, repurposed-fashion, hand made clothing and accessories as well as natural bath, body and hair care.



Why the name MUSE? Well.....we find inspiration in the art of fashion. We are inspired by our designers and artists, and finally, we are inspired by YOU, our MUSE.
